Can you tell me more about Our Savior Lutheran?
Our Savior Lutheran School was founded in 1984 to provide children with a well-rounded Christian education. Our new, modern facility was completed in 1998. We currently have a staff of two teachers that teach Kindergarten through 8th grade, as well as a team of volunteers that help with music, art, tutoring and coaching.
Can our children opt out of learning about your religion?
Since God's word is the foundation of our school, and consequently our education program, students at the school are required to participate in the religion classes.
What curriculum do you use?
Our curriculum is designed to give our children the best education possible. Our textbooks are reviewed on a regular basis so that they are kept as up-to-date as possible. Each subject is taught from a Christ-centered perspective.
Is Our Savior Lutheran School associated with any other schools?
Our Savior is affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), which has been operating Lutheran Elementary and secondary schools in this country for over 150 years. For more information about the WELS or other WELS schools, please visit the WELS Schools Page.
Must I be a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church to send my child to the school?
No, we frequently admit non-member students. All students that enroll must agree to the purpose for which the school is established as set forth in the philosophy of the school and to all the conditions as set forth in the school's handbook. Non-member students will be accepted under the following conditions:
1- The parents will take an introductory course in Christian Doctrine sponsored by Our Savior Lutheran Church within the first six weeks of enrollment, to be completed within nine months.
2- The parents support the religious training of their children at home and school, especially in the completion of Christian memory work.
3- The parents are willing to participate in their child's education and in school events.
All applications for enrollment will be subject to approval by the Pastor, the Principal and the Board of Education.
Is your school accredited?
We are not currently accredited, but we are currently starting the accreditation process. All of our teachers hold at least a Bachelor's Degree in Education and hold Texas and/or Minnesota state teaching licenses.
How do the graduates of Our Savior Lutheran School perform in high school academics?
Families have reported that students entering the local public and private high schools are regularly put into honors and advanced placement classes. Provided with an environment based upon Christian values and an emphasis on personal attention, most students will excel past secular standards.
